I’ve decided that I don’t like the word fearless anymore. Not at all. It means without fear. Who ever does anything without fear? The point of phrases like “leap fearlessly” or “be fearless” or “have no fear” make it sounds as if we’re not supposed to have any fears, but there’s no truth, really, in living without fear. It was a conversation with Beth where it came up and now I can’t stop thinking of it.
I think they should change the entire word from fearless to Bravely Fearful. Because that’s the reality – we all have fears, but the trick is to take action in spite of the fears – to become acquainted with our fears along the path, face their direction, and make purposeful, meaningful brave decisions in spite of them, but definitely not without them. So fearless, no. Bravely Fearful, yes.
I’ve finally listed some original paintings for sale in my online shop. . Check em’ out! They’ll arrive signed, and sweetly wrapped, like a gift just for you. XO, Kelly Rae
