Weekly Update – Big Ol’ Update with Brave Girl Symposium, Backyard Beauties, and More!

Jul 20, 2017 | Life in Progress

I’m obsessed with Instagram – it’s my favorite online home! Here’s a recap from the last week, and for those of you who aren’t on Instagram, come and join me!

Thursday, June 29

My little guy is graduating today from his Mother Earth school. It’s been a year of schooling on a beautiful farm in a beautiful forest. He has loved it, even during the rainy season, even when it snowed, even when it was HOT. The seasons have been gorgeous to witness on the land as well as in True’s growth. So proud of him and for us as a family to have chosen an unconventional path that has served this little spirit so fully. Here’s to finishing up first grade and for new adventures ahead!

Look how the sun shines through the petals. Soaking up and savoring the sunshine today.

Friday, June 30

Current view. 8pm-ish. Summer breeze. Snoring dog at my feet. The long workday over. Music playing in the house. Neighborhood sounds. Bliss.

Saturday, July 1

Totally in love with how the colors are coming together in my art shed!!!! I mixed gray and white paints into the too bright lemon grove yellow and now it’s the perfect shade. Love how the yellow looks with the white walls and blue grey ceiling!

Sunday, July 2

Today I’m at True’s school helping to break down the yurt and all the other things that must be done. Sadly, the school is coming to an end but will continue in other capacities, but not on this land. Endings are hard but totally trusting the next step for this brilliant school and its teachers to find their way. True will continue his Waldorf education next year at sweet small school in our neighborhood next year.

Monday, July 3

Can we please talk about Lulu for a minute? She will be two years old soon and continues be a complete fur baby. We often refer to her as our toddler because she has similar needs: lots of snuggles, insists on being near you, requires 1:1 play time when she demands it, friends with anyone, and she gets quite feisty just before bed time. We love her more each day and I even though I’ve had other animals, I now understand what people mean when they say their pets are like full on family members. She is totally that.

Thursday, July 6

Hey hey! Look who’s here at Brave Girl Symposium with me! Nichole and I decided to vend this year, and let me tell you, I forgot how much hard work goes into vending. We were up super late last night unpacking, sorting, and getting all the things up in our space.
.
I love this gathering of brave girls SO MUCH. I’m speaking on Friday. WISH ME LUCK. Speaking terrifies me, but I want to keep doing it, so here’s to being brave!

Monday, July 10

I wanted to share a few photos from this weekend at the Brave Girl Symposium. I’m home now and reflecting on all the goodness that was shared and received. Swipe to see more! Beth and I had an incredible opportunity to do a breakout session Q+A that ended up being all about women and business. Lots of discussion about our sister membership that launched this week (Hello Soul Hello Business) that we’re over the moon about (come join us!).
.
Another one of my favorite things from the weekend was doing a panel Q+A with fellow biz sisters on this path. Loved it so!
.
Another highlight shown in this photo roundup: witnessing Melody and Marq share their incredible story.
.
Happy to be home snuggled up with my family and integrating the experience into daily life.
.
Here’s to Brave Living. Xo

First time back in a week. I cannot believe how fitness has become integrated into my life. Considering it was never my thing, not even when I was a kid (never not once played a sport). Considering I used to not like sweating. Considering I have an extreme dislike of the music that is played during high intensity fitness classes. Considering I can think of a million things I would do instead of exercise (eat and sleep) in the evenings.
.
But now. But now is different. I am learning so much on this fitness journey. Not the least of which is that I love sweating. LOVE it. Sweating, to me, is like the struggle we sometimes go through in our inner lives as we search and seek for peace, those hard places that come before the clarity arrives. Sweat is like that. It’s like the external twin to the internal resistance that we have on the way to healthy changes.

Tuesday, July 11

You guys. Remember that ebb and flow thing I was talking about a few posts ago? Today I’m in that. Decided after a long stretch of working quite hard, to take a few days off. In the middle of the week. To rest. To integrate. To recuperate. To be with my family. I’m currently stopped at a little outdoor cafe alone waiting for my lunch. Trusting the inbox and all the to do’s can wait. Let’s hop off the hustle train and pause to enjoy our lives, y’all. Ebb and flow. Ebb and freaking flow. Xxo!

Wednesday, July 12

Slowly making my way back to my work. Today I’m filming my weekly painting video for Kelly Rae Unscripted. I’m also hoping to start getting supplies and such into the art shed. And then the inbox. Gonna make myself a cup of tea, put on some tunes (just got the new Deb Talan album) and dive into all things admin. But first, art.

Friday, July 14

I have a solid four hours right now to tackle my to-do list. I am so excited for the solitude so I can put my head down, focus, and TCB. I have my water bottle on one side. My tea on the other. Plants and birds chirping and the sounds of the neighborhood.

Saturday, July 15

Been chasing the light this week. My soul has been noticing, honoring, and savoring it. And right now it’s all beautiful in our living room. Grateful.

Wednesday, July 19

These are the days. Berry picking with a favorite human of mine.

Sending much love,

Hi Kelly… Do you ever partner with other’s ideas? I have a couple lines that I would like to create and feel it would blend so well with your lovely artwork. You express your heart, with a curious spark, along with your kind soul.
i just sent my daughter, “What makes your heart flutter.” She and I also share a piece of your wall art: Hopeful Spirt. Alyson’s is on her living area wall with other artwork and mine seems to find it’s way to various places in my bedroom. I love the way you share…. all.

    My best~ Susan
