Weekly Update – Showing Up

Aug 17, 2017 | Life in Progress

I’m obsessed with Instagram – it’s my favorite online home! Here’s a recap from the last week, and for those of you who aren’t on Instagram, come and join me!

Sunday, August 13

I have been without words this weekend as so many of us have. I found this roadside sign today as a little lift, a tiny beacon of hope.

Current attitude. After a week off for work/travel, I’m back at the gym. Truth: I am so tired from life that I wanna be in bed and not here. But if there is one thing I’ve learned these last many months of this fitness journey, it’s that I just have to show up and inevitably I burn calories and return home happy I made a choice that was good for me. One brave and good choice after the next, yes?

1-2-3. My morning smoothie ingredients. Swipe left for the process. For the last many months I’ve gotten the fitness/sweating thing down. I have also made some food changes but that has been more slow going than the sweating it out piece of my journey. Slow and steady and one thing at a time has really worked for me. I’m ready to up my food game now and build on the small steps I’ve already taken so far. I do really really well with my food until evening. This week I’m gently encouraging myself to try something new so that I don’t eat allll the things when I get home from my nightly workouts. Last night that meant eating a large dinner at 5pm which really held me over for the rest of the evening, and through my 630pm workout. I got a little hangry around 8pm and enjoyed a baked nectarine with cinnamon sprinkled on it and small amt of nonfat plain Greek yogurt (which I’m developing a taste for!). That was a little big move for me and I’m going to repeat this strategy tonight! Wish me luck. Here’s to making it happen cause we freaking deserve the healthiest version of ourselves.

It’s been a beautiful summer watching this sweet boy grow. I keep telling myself that these are the days, these are the days, these are the days. I have a gmail account set up for True where I send him regular letters with video and photo attachments. It’s something I know he’ll love when he’s an adult or after I’ve passed on. Today I showed it to him for the first time and he was so tickled that he had a mailbox full of hundreds of letters and photos. I read a few of the letters to him and showed him old favorite photos of his babyhood. So cute and sweet. This summer has been boyhood galore and I love being part of his tribe that gets to guide him along.

Sending much love,

I love your Gmail account for True! When my boys were younger I started a notebook of letters to them. I didn’t write all the time, but when certain things happened. I should dig them out and get going again! (Now that the oldest is 30!!!
    Enjoy your day!
