Remember way back when we added a little kids library to our Little Free Library? The kids love it and I love the community that has grown from having both big person and little person libraries. Earlier this year, we took it a step further and added a little annex to our library post, and we called it “Leave A Letter, Take A Letter” and you guys, it’s been so sweet! People actually leave little letters (adults and kids alike) for one another!
Each day I watch kids walking home from their elementary school, checking this mailbox for letters written from other kids in the neighborhood. They take one. They leave one. Some of the notes are kid drawings or jokes they’ve written.
Other notes are Hope Notes and little affirmations that people of all ages have left behind for someone to find. This makes my heart big with local community and hope. I love being the house in the hood that hosts hope notes.
For those of you who already have a Little Free Library at your house, I can’t recommend adding a Leave A Letter, Take A Letter annex to it. The best!
Big love,
