shorty’s

Mar 21, 2006 | Life in Progress

we went to our favorite oregon coast beach today, affectionately known as “Shorty’s”. It’s john’s favorite surf spot, and it’s my favorite place to bask in the sunlight, snuggle up to a beach fire amongst the huge pieces of driftwood, read, think, and play with our dog. It’s never, ever crowed, usually just a few pockets of surfers and of course, their dogs who run and play and dance with each other until they’re so exhausted they can barely walk. It’s an enchanting cove of all things beautiful. the scenery is breathtaking and you feel like you’re in the midst of peace, like you are melting into it, with only the perfect sounds of the ocean keeping you company. it’s also home to one of our favorite camping sites. it’s all nestled within an old growth forest. huge, majestic, moss covered trees. really amazing place. i will miss it. i’m starting to tote my camera everywhere. i want to capture all of what we’ve fallen in love with here. i don’t ever want to forget it. and if we’re lucky, we’ll be back. we are northwesterners at heart.

Sending much love,

Kelly, I have to get the name of that campsite from you. Camping is on our to-do list for the year — we’ve let it slip further and further away in the 5 years since we’ve lived in Oregon, so that I barely remember how. This year, for sure!

    Hi Kelly,

Thanks for the directions to “Shorty’s”! We’ll have to check it out this summer. Since we live in Eugene, we don’t get to that part of the coast enough. We also love the coastline between Florence and Waldport!

    Thanks again,

    Paul

Is “Shory’s” near Cannon Beach and does it have another name. We live in Eugene, but love to visit Cannon Beach!

Gorgeous! I just moved out here to Vancouver, BC in September, after growing up an east coast girl from Nova Scotia…I’m never going back! There is something magical and awe-inspiring about the west coast, isn’t there?!

I try not to be jealous of those of you who live on the Oregon coast, but that is my dream–to live in Seaside. Your pics made me feel that relaxing feeling when we are there. Thanks for sharing those—I am ready to go!!
