merging of worlds. love.

so this funny thing has been happening.
as we’ve been renovating our house, i’ve been daydreaming about all the ways i’m going to decorate. you know i love to decorate. it’s a big passion of mine. i’ve been scoping out new design and decor blogs for renewed inspiration, scouting out new junk shops, antique fairs, and on an on. i’m having so much fun! i’m always drawn to anything vintage, farm tables, white everything, colorful everything, rusty things, creative ways to use various found objects, lots of colorful fabric, gorgeous lighting, and creativity in design.
as i’ve been out and out about, i’ve been discovering such creative ladies who also love all things decor + vintage + creative. many are vendors around town who sell out of their barns, or at awesome antique malls, or at very cool barnhouse shows out in the country. i’ve been so inspired by them!

enter the latest issue of Where Women Create. i was SO HONORED to be a part of this issue (let alone mentioned on the cover with so many of my heros – seriously fun!). i’ve read every one of their issues, cover to cover, and i’ve been so in love with the quality of the photos, the pages, the writing, the creativity, the spirit of this magazine. so it was such a treat to be featured in their section called The Business Of The Studio (sneak peek below) in the latest issue on stands now. giant thanks to Jo Packman and Amanda Crabtree for this opportunity (love these ladies!)! speaking of Jo, she wrote the most amazing editor’s letter for this issue. not kidding – i related to every single word. it’s about inspiration, women, and how we inspire one another with the way we dress, decorate, color our hair and on and on. it’s awesome.
wwc!
and this is where the funny thing that’s been happening started to happen. as i was reading this particular issue of WWC, i began to feel a merging of my creative mixed media world with the world of country/home/whimsical/farm girls who wear their cowgirl boots and dresses and decorate their homes and spaces with creative energy and design. i was so entranced with the stories of the women who were featured in this magazine, how they created their spaces, how they used their love of decor + creativity and merged the two, how they, like me, could be found at the nearest junk/flea market any weekend of the month. i remember feeling so inspired as i drifted off to sleep while taking it all in. i just knew in the pit of my stomach that my mixed media world and my decorating world were about to collide. and it got me so excited.
then, i kid you not. this is what happened the very next day. i went to the barnhouse flea to look for a farm table for our dining room – it’s an amazing show out in the middle of farm country (decor heaven, for me). i didn’t find a farm table but i got so much more. it seemed everywhere i turned, there was someone asking “are you kelly rae?” and everywhere i turned i collided with kindred spirits. it was so strange to be out in the middle of nowhere at a farm/junk/flea show (out of context with my mixed media art world) and have anyone, let alone the sweetest ladies in the world, have any idea who i was! but again, the night before i just had this sense that i wanted to dip my toe more into the flea/junk/antique/cowgirl world. and voila! it was like a mutual lovefest at this show…i can’t tell you how fun and sweet it was to meet so many inspiring women! some were vendors, some artists, some photographers, some designers, and on and on. i was incredibly inspired by them, their talents, and their spirits. seriously.

meet tiffany (aka fancy farm girl), lara (aka modern prairie girl), and kimberly (aka mimi charmante) – a few of the inspiring women i met. head on over to their blogs to see what i mean. DELIGHTFUL, sassy, energized women and so much talent….

okay, in other news, our house is officially done, peeps. as in done, done, done. we are moving, like, today. so i have no idea what i’m doing blogging but i’ve been wanting to tell this story for days and was determined to not let another errand/chaos filled day stop me. i think i might be offline for a few days while we dig in to boxes and such. my parents arrive tomorrow to help and i couldn’t be more excited…..more soon!!!

Sending much love,
