That’s my old friend Karen and me, about 15 years ago. We were 22 years old and on our first trip out West, from FL to OR. That road trip absolutely changed my life. I wrote about it in
this post way back in 2007.
As my 20th high school reunion approaches, I’ve been thinking about that girl – who she was, what pieces of her still remain. I think I’ll probably go. To the reunion, that is. I have a penchant for getting super duper nostalgic. It suits me beautifully 🙂
These two continue to capture my heart, daily. John is officially a full time stay at home papa. He couldn’t be more proud, more excited. And this makes me incredibly proud, excited. I am in a state of constant gratitude that this is a move we can afford to make. The other day John said he was considering a blog about his stay at home papa adventures. Oh, swoon. I would so read that blog 🙂
The sun came out for a few days. I notice that I’m in the BEST MOOD EVER when the sun comes out. I’m not going to lie. It can get rough living in the NW with all this rain and gloom. Jan-Mar are the hardest. I’m going to try and manifest tropical travel next year during these months. Please, oh, please!
We throughly enjoy ourselves when the sun does come out.
And even when it doesn’t, of course. Here’s True getting in on my daily gratitude practice. Yes, it’s a giant piece of paper taped to the fridge. Whatever works, friends. Whatever works.
Found a little love on the sidewalk the other day. I’ll add it to
my collection, for sure.
The other day this is what happened:
Friendly stranger: “Hey kid, what’s your name?”
True: “True”
Friendly stranger: “Huh?”
True: “T.R.U.E. True!”
I almost fell down, barely believing that True just spelled out his name for someone so that they GOT IT. I love this kid, so so much.
Lately, he’s into knee boarding on the tennis courts.
And staring at the outdoors, possibly dreaming of knee boarding at the tennis courts.
Life, you are so cool.

PS:
Recently, Lacy and I were driving down the street when we saw a sassy woman wearing a very cool coat. Lacy rolled down her window, “Hey sweets, cool coat! Where’d you get it?” The answer? Anthropologie. We bee-lined it to the nearest store, and as luck would have it, they had ONE left, 30% off the already marked down price no less! Oh yeah, baby. I love this coat. Feels like me, and I’m pretty sure I would have worn it in high school, too. It may just have to take the trip with me to my 20th reunion 🙂
I totally thought this coat was part of the latest art collection release–an extension of the jewelry
Yes, jan- Mar are hard on a lot of folks. Glad to see your beautiful smile. Love the coat and your fam is awesome.

Love your gratitude poster, that is such a good idea, not sure I would get my husband on board with this though, I think he might baulk at the idea of sharing (whisper the word) his feelings!!
Have a great weekend,
OMG, Kelly. Your post today, made my day :). I LOVE reading about True, and your inspiring attitude towards life, motherhood, art and everything :). TRUE is sooo cute spelling out his name, handsome boy. LOVE LOVE seeing him sitting alone & day dreaming. We need to do this all the time, contemplating & reflecting. Fun coat!. HUGS.
So cool that John is a stay at home dad – he should definitely blog about it! How nice for True.. and you!
So sweet that True spelled it out for the stranger. Kids are the best.
It's wonderful how much of your life you share with us. Thank you! Would love to read the adventures of a stay at home papa.
I adore your coat Kelly Rae, so lovely.
If you haven't already, check out this brilliant blog/website by a cool creative stay at home Dad. He makes some great stuff with/for his kids. http://madebyjoel.com/about
I had such a fun time at my 20th reunion. I was so hugely pregnant, and the ONLY one. Some of my classmates had kids in high school. Crazy.
But still, it was such a great time and so freeing for me.
I moved to Idaho two years ago from sunny Colorado. I wouldn't have considered it to be in the NW, but ugh. It sure is. We're not far from the Oregon border and I've never experienced the absolute GREY that lasts from November to…well, the end of JUNE the first year.
It still grey, but at least warmer this week, so my spirit feels lighter.
Your coat suits you. 🙂 Maybe they could make and sell coats with your art on them!
A really thoughtful post…you look SO very happy. I cannot believe how big T.R.U.E. is getting!! You haven't shown any of your Mom's handiwork lately…I miss that!
