Weekly Update – Hello from NYC!

May 18, 2017 | Life in Progress

I’m obsessed with Instagram – it’s my favorite online home! Here’s a recap from the last week, and for those of you who aren’t on Instagram, come and join me!

Thursday, May 11

I’m not a big drinker, but lately, on our Thursday afternoon dates together, we try a new restaurant and I try a new cocktail. This was a rum drink from Tasty and Sons here in Portland. The food (and this drink) was SO GOOD and that’s saying a lot from someone who isn’t a foodie and doesn’t generally get impressed by food. But the shrimp and grits? Yes to infinity. Also, the brownie. THE BROWNIE.

Friday, May 12

Good morning from the gorgeous green woods. The birds are chirping. Rain is near.

Is it Saturday yet?

Saturday, May 13

I’m super gonna miss these two. I’m heading to NYC for a week tomorrow for an exciting event with @gudrunsworld. I’m crazy excited and bringing you all along for the ride. Also, if you have any favorite working cafes in Soho, let me know as the first couple days of this trip will be writing days for me. I looovvvee going to NYC but I don’t love being away from these loves. Wish me luck! Photo: @shesawthingsphoto

Sunday, May 14

Annnnd hello from NYC! Last time I was here I wandered around about 7 miles on foot each day. This time around I’m hanging out in SOHO as I’ll be cafe working a few of the days. If you have a MUST GO place for me in Soho, or near it, let me know! Food, boutiques, art, parks, spas. Any of it. I’d love to know.

Monday, May 15

Guys, I said I would take you with me to NYC, but I’m afraid today is not glamorous. I slept til noon (time changes are hard for me), promptly rolled out of bed and headed for the hotel’s work lounge. I’m hanging here for several hours as I work on an exciting project that I’m dying to share with you (soon!). Later, I’m heading to an Orange Theory Fitness class so I can keep my workouts going. I’ve never been to an orange theory class. A little nervous! Xo from NYC.

Wish me luck. I’m off to my first Orange Theory Fitness class in NYC. After this, dinner while I continue to work.

Tuesday, May 16

Hello from NYC! Walked about 7 miles or so today all around Soho, Greenwich Village, Chelsea. Swipe to see a couple of things I noticed. I snuck in a couple visits with friends, including my dear Clare who I’ve known since junior high. A good day. My feet are super tired. Back at my hotel now. Gonna get back to working on my big project soon. The Gudrun festivities will begin soon. Getting excited. So love it here.

Wednesday, May 17

Well friends. Today was one for the record books. Not only did I meet Gudrun, hang with my girl @rachelawes, but also met a longtime soul sister of mine (SARK @sarkifylife) for the first time. The three of us roamed and ate and talked for hours. Bliss. These ladies inspire me with their contagious generosity, joy, and radical way of seeing and being in the world. Tomorrow continues the journey as we are all here (with others who I can’t wait to introduce you to) for some fun @gudrunsworld happenings!

Sending much love,

I recently was at Salvation Army in my area. I live in Wesley Chapel,Fl. I love browsing and looking at all the different types of things they have. My last visit was a couple of weeks ago. One of the first things that jumped out at me was one of your beautiful fairies or angels. It is so beautiful. I saw your name on the back of the piece of work. So I looked you up online and saw all of your beautiful art work. I looked for the piece I found, but after going through all your work, I couldn’t find it. I was just wondering if you might know anything about it.. It is so beautiful. The girl looks like she has black hair, Rosey cheeks, she looks like a fairy or an angel. Her wings are green and gold. Her shirt is yellow and it says : to every corner of the world Peace and Joy. Her skirt looks like a map. I Just love it!! It is so calm and peaceful. I just wanted some information if possible about this piece of art..Thank- you Marla :)))
