Brene, signings, and other news

i’m heading out of town for the next week. please wish me love and luck as i spontaneously jump into my first teaching gig. it will be wonderful, but i’d be lying if i didn’t say i was nervous with a capital N. i hope i haven’t forgotten to pack anything. paintbrushes. check. gel medium. check. collage papers. check. glittery eyes (thank you, jonatha!). check. heart + soul + butterflies. definitely.

i think i’ll have access to the internet while i’m away, so i’ll be sure to check in over here in a couple of days. in the meantime, i wanted to list a couple of announcements:

* my friend brene (whose book is seriously changing my life, but more on that later) posted an interview with me today on her site. i love her interview format and was thrilled when she asked me to do it (thank you, brene!). it also includes a giveaway 🙂

* for those of you in the portland area, i’ll be participating in art+soul’s author signing event on friday of THIS week. bring your book (or you can purchase one there) and i’ll be happy to sign it. there will be several authors at this event, including my friends stephanie lee and tonia davenport! more information about when and where and who can be found right here.

* i’ll also be selling all sorts of goodies (prints, stationery, books, etc) at art+soul’s vendor nite on saturday of this week. please come and say hello as i’d love to see you there! details on where and when can be found here.

* i’m feeling really called to say thank you to each and every person who have sent the loveliest emails regarding the book. i love hearing your stories of how you’re rediscovering your creative wings. how you’re inspired to start crafting again. i especially love the emails about how you didn’t expect the book to be deep and thought provoking – these really make me smile. and all of the images your attaching of your whisper journals, your patchwork girls, your affirmation paintings – it’s enough to make me beam with gratitude and light for years to come. thank you. thank you, too, to all of you who have posted about Taking Flight on your blogs, who have posted reviews, who have told your friends. i can’t tell you how much this means to me. you guys are the bomb 🙂

more soon….
xo

Sending much love,

Wanted to share a happy, unexpected moment today with you. I was in a shop here in St. Paul called Artful Things (I think) – all hand-made art from US artists – and, it made me think of you. So, I told the proprietess all about you, she looked you up, liked your stuff a lot, and hopefully, might contact you about wholesaling possibilities. And, re: the teaching gig – I think you’re great at sharing your experiences via the blog — you’ll be great, as well, in person. 🙂

I am soooo sad! I just popped over here from Stephanies blog…I purchased your book when it first hit the bookshelfs…I saw you are teaching at Art and Soul…TODAY If I had seen this yesterday, and if there was still room, I so would have come and taken this from you. Darn. Hope you had a nice time, please show us finished pictures. Laurie

I was just given your new book as a gift, and I just wanted to tell you that I find it amazing – I knew the art would be wonderful but the writing is even better. It is a creative person’s guide to life. I am savoring every page!!

I just had a look at the interview with Brene and read you would like to visit New Zealand… you must pop in for a coffee or a tea, orange juice, coke or milo, a wine, a glass of milk or water…

I wish you well on your trip to your first teaching gig, I have done a few and I know it is good to have nerves, they keep you grounded.

Well, I too, want to thank you! I am a reader of your blog, and I was so excited to see it at Powell’s books in Portland when I was there on vacation! And I carry it everywhere!!!!! Here is my litle review:

Also,I was wondering if you would be willing to disclose where you get your wood panels (or any advice on that), and where you source your inks– my town doesn’t really offer much in that department. Thank you again for the inspiration!!
