Look mom! It’s happening!

Feb 12, 2019 | Kelly Rae Builds A House, Kelly Rae Moves To Sisters

We’re on the three week countdown until we finally move to Sisters, Oregon. We are beyond ready and excited. Our home won’t be ready until April, so we’re cozying up in a furnished rental just down the road from the construction site for a month or so. We want True to have some time settling into his new school before we make one last move into our new home.

What a journey this has been. We have been in a state of transition – living with my parents, our belongings in storage – for about 6 months now. My mama heart has been worried about True’s heart all of this time as there’s been so much transition.  He’s been so nervous about a new school, a new neighborhood, new friends. I moved a ton as a kid and remember well the nerves of starting over. My heart has been tender for him while also knowing that navigating change is an important rite of passage that helps with resiliency. It’s hard to watch our kids do hard things, isn’t it?

During this last visit to our new city, he had the opportunity to spend three days visiting what will be his new school. He put his brave rock in his backpack and off he went, nerves and all. As school let out on his first day, he came bumbling out of the classroom, huge smile on his face as he said, “It was awesome. Best teacher ever!” Ahhhhh, we made to this moment. Big exhale…..

Meanwhile, John and I have been having such good conversations about all sorts of choices we want to make about how we want to live inside this new life we’re creating. We’re daydreaming about outdoor adventures, everyday rhythms, what we want, what we don’t want, how we want to feel, how we can support one another. It’s been John’s dream to live in a mountain town for as long as I’ve known him (20 yrs!) and I can see and feel his excitement – like a kid. I know his happiness will wash our family with sunshine.

Sending much love, Kelly Rae

    Dear Kelly Rae,
I am no longer taking Kelly Rae Unscripted and it makes me sad. I have had you in my life for a long time and bought the Angel Class for Life. I regret not doing the same for the Mantra class but I did not have enough money. I had a basic problem with the decorating program- at one point you said it had nothing to do with money. I am sorry, but all of the decisions of decor etc. and changes in blueprints, windows etc. are all about money. I thought your joy was going to depress me! I am 71 years old and would give anything to see you paint again, or better yet offer me another great class!!! You gave me a whole new creative life with painting. Thank you for that gift.

      Hi Judith,
Building a house, yes, takes money, and that is where we are in the process right now when it comes to Unscripted – I’m taking you through the process of choosing tile, etc etc that is within our budget. Decorating, however, does not require a ton of money. We haven’t gotten to that part yet in Unscripted, but it’s coming as soon as we move in, which will be soon. You are welcome back anytime.

As for painting, stay tuned! I will absolutely have more painting offerings in the future once I have a home. I’m honored to have played a small part in your creative unfolding. Keep soaring!

      Thanks, Joan.

I hear you and thanks for your thougths. Home decor has always been a huge part of my creativity, even before I picked up a paintbrush. I’m excited to bring this offering forth along with other creative offerings that are paint related. It’s not a Chip + Jo aesthetic though I appreciate your concern. All the best to you and thank you for your happiness wishes for me and my family. XO
