Weekly Update – True Art, Dressing Up in Joy, and Spring in Full BLOOM

I’m obsessed with Instagram – it’s my favorite online home! Here’s a recap from the last two weeks, and for those of you who aren’t on Instagram, come and join me! And you can click here to see all the Instagram updates right here on my blog!

Friday March 27

Back to it, the Wear Your Joy Project!

Saturday March 28

We cannot become what we need to be by remaining what we are, said Max
DePree. Been thinking about the change of seasons and how their births
of renewal, especially Spring, sparks my own renewal of routines. I am
feeling particularly ready to gently make some changes, to bloom and
grow wild and true in new ways.

House painting verdict? Love love love. All day long, love.

This morning I accidentally pinched his little neck with his helmet
buckle. Poor guy, he cried and cried big heavy 4 year old tears. After
ice and hugs and “I’m so sorry’s”, I nonchalantly asked “you forgive
me?” He looked at me and gently said, “You don’t need to ask that,
mama.” “I don’t?,” I asked. “No, because I had already forgave you in my
heart.”, he said. It was one of those small tender moments I will
remember forever. Later over donuts, I asked him what “forgiveness”
meant to him. He thought about it for a long pause, and then very
surely said, “It means I still love you.” Motherhood is not easy. But
self love and compassion help, along with all the bliss that arrive in
those tiny moments of purity. But still. It’s hard. Knowing that this
sweet soul still loves me despite the accidental pinches, the likely
over protectiveness, the sure to be annoying someday public kisses, the
steady stream of honest mistakes, well, it means the world. While I am
raising him, I am also raising myself. We are each other’s teachers and
traveling companions in this lifetime. I am lucky, honored, blessed,
loved, and …… forgiven. emojiemojiemoji

Sunday March 29

Up later than usual. Just finished watching the last available episode
of House Of Cards (what did you guys think?) and now I’m reflecting on
what has been a super full day. Lots and lots of gardening
(succulents!). Lots and lots of cooking healthy foods for the week ahead
(I’m learning that old adage about planning to fail if you fail to plan
– so true!). And lots of visiting with family and friends at our home. I
love it when weekends feel like weekends. Thanks for all the house
color love, by the way! The painters are coming back tomorrow to finish
the porches and garage and I’m geeking out over how we are going to
paint the porch steps and stair risers. I’m also geeking out over the
sweet potato brownies I made earlier today and all the flowers and bulbs
we planted. My inner domestic goddess is feeling nurtured and happy.emojiemojiemojiemojiemojiemojiemojiemoji

Monday March 30

I spotted these gorgeous wishes (written by others) a couple of weeks
ago at the wishing tree. I just found them in my camera roll and had to
share. My wish for the week? That it be filled with small blessings and
simple abundance, and that I notice and see. What is yours?

“Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.”
― William Shakespeare, All’s Well That Ends Well
Happy Monday, all! My wish for you this week is to say hello to love in
all areas of your life. Love is all around, when we seek it.

You guys. I think I *need* these for my upcoming 40th. Found in Sundance
catalog, and I’m swooning hard. What do you think? I love those little
flowers!

This day has been mega full. A typical Monday I suppose. I’m counting these blooms as a gratitude!
Tuesday, March 31

Rough morning. But these are definitely helping bring in some inner sunshine. I heart flowers, all day long.

“Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.”
― Henry David Thoreau, Walden
Here is to discovering your truth. Let it bloom, let it grow, let it thrive.

Admin day is in full swing over here. Grateful for this beautiful corner in which to get stuff DONE.

Whoa. This is a first for me. I am honored and floored by the sweetness
of Kim’s story: “I got a memorial tattoo based on one of your beautiful
paintings. My mother loved your art so much and I gave her this
particular painting several months before she passed away. Thank you for
inspiring her and me and so many people.”

Hard to go to bed when it’s still light outside, but this little guy
does it. He’s been growing like a weed lately. Wears a solid size 5. There is something about the everydayness about this photo that I adore.

I’m a newish Taylor Swift fan! “To me, Fearless is not the absence of
fear. It’s not being completely unafraid. To me, Fearless is having
fears. Fearless is having doubts. Lots of them. To me, Fearless is
living in spite of those things that scare you to death.”
― Taylor Swift
YES YES YES. Living in spite of the things that scare you. Yes.

One of the last things we did to bring this guest/office/sitting/family
craft room together was to put up an industrial paper roller on the
wall. I originally saw the idea on Pinterest and fell in love. A quick
search on Amazon for a roller and voila, it’s up and making a statement.
True especially loves it (hard to see in this photo but he drew a
pretty rad huge self portrait on it). I think this will be perfect for
leaving love notes for our guests. A photo tour of this room and all the
others coming up on the blog soon!

I was in one of those bathrooms today where all the walls are graffiti’d
up with a maze of hardcore images and words. I took a minute to take it
all in and search for something, I dunno, softer. And wouldn’t you know
this is what I found staring back at me. Gosh. I love how the universe
works. And it’s true, it’s never to late. Take it from a possibilitarian
who knows.

Thursday April 2

This might be my new favorite painting of True’s. Gah.

Today was a weird day. Actually, this has been a weird week. Someone
said it has to do with the blood moon coming this week? It hasn’t been
bad weird, just odd weird, a little tilted. Or something. Regardless,
today I fought my reluctance to put on sweats and instead I got dressed up in joy!

 Friday April 3

This self portrait True made is killing me with giggles. All I see is happy. And crazy. And silly. And omg, I love him so much.

That’s it for this week! Check back here next week for another update, or join us over on Instagram for daily photos and thoughts!

XO,
Kelly Rae

Sending much love,
