this was the view earlier today from the driver’s seat of my rental car: raindrops, a vibrant rainbow, and a gorgeous patchwork sky. god, i adore this city. it’s where i have always belonged, and i can’t wait to return here…to home.

i taught my first class yesterday. total magic. felt completely natural. and i loved it. more to come on that soon as it’s 2am and i’m off to sleep. but i really wanted to check in here and share that little piece: i loved it. i can’t wait to share more with photos….(omg).

Sending much love,

wow ! a fantastic photo – I love rainbows – luckily as it rains a lot here in Scotland I see them often. Sadly most people never look up and miss them.

I know how you feel about Portland. I moved to Seattle in the 80’s but everytime I go down to PDX, I get that sentimental feeling. and that HOME experience.

I was in Kelly Rae’s second class, and it was fantastic, wonderful, amazing! Kelly, as your student, I never would have guessed you just started teaching if I hadn’t known it from reading your blog.

Good luck with this new teaching adventure!

I’m 54. I want to live even one day with the bliss that you seem to have daily. You are so positive, honest, full of life, creative, ful of joy and bliss. How do you do it? Really? How? Why have I lived so long without that in my life? How do I get there? I want to be you when I grow up.

kellykelly…i saw your book in Barnes & Noble today…they "accidentally" had it shelved instead of displayed with the cover showing. so i fixed it for them. much better. 🙂 Linda E.

Kelly Rae, I just got your new book Taking Flight and I absolutely love it! I saw the cover art and said to myself “that is how I’d like to draw”. The first paragraph on page 11 about our inner voices almost made me cry. I love all kinds of mixed media arts/crafts but one of the things I’d really like to learn is to draw better. I know with practice and trial and error I can get better but I hold back and am afraid to try. Afraid of failure, afraid of being made fun of, etc. I’m 44 and you’d think that by now that wouldn’t bother me. I feel like a little girl when it comes to my art, insecure and self conscious. I think your book just might help me just do what I want to do and not worry so much! Thanks so much.
