It’s DAY 1 of the 7 day #WEARYOURJOY challenge! Last night I put mindfully put together my outfit and this morning I dressed in its joy. Felt really good.

When I started my own Wear Your Joy practice many years ago, my intention was simply to get out of a rut and call in some confidence. I wanted to feel more alive and in my own skin.

This week – all of these years later – my personal intention for this 7-day challenge is to create some more consciousness in creating delight in the evenings when I’m putting together my outfit, but also to create a morning routine that uses getting dressed as an opportunity to delight in my whole self: my aging body, my colorful sensibilities, my urge to wear cowgirl boots, my wanting to be kinder to the reflection in the mirror.


What’s your intention for the #wearyourjoy challenge


Once you have your intention, write it down, perhaps on a sticky note placed on your mirror.

Having trouble naming your intention? These questions might help get your wheels turning.

  • How does my morning routine currently feel? What aspects of that do I want to celebrate and which ones do I want to change?
  • What are my most repetitive thoughts while getting dressed? Do they inspire joy and self-love?
  • Does getting dressed feel fun? Like art? Like a prayer? What do I want it to be?
  • When it comes to your morning routine of getting dressed, what would a breakthrough look like for you? How do you want to feel?

Your #wearyourjoy Challenge 

1. Selfie Self Love

Each morning after you’ve put on your joyful outfit, I want you to take a Self-Love Selfie. Not only will this be a powerful practice of embracing where and who you are today with love and kindness, but it’s also a way to witness your visual transformation, one day at a time, as you continue to choose joy.

Important: When you take your Self-Love Selfie, I want you to look at yourself with utmost compassion and joy and quietly say to yourself these words by author Amy B “You are imperfect, permanently and inevitably flawed. And you are beautiful.

2. Conscious Clothing Choices

Each evening, before you go to bed, take some time to consciously choose your outfit for the following day. Include your whole outfit, including accessories, socks, and shoes. Make sure it’s an outfit that gives you joy. Don’t worry about doing it “right” – just choose your delight. 

Important: Take your outfit out of the closet and put it in a place of honor. Perhaps you hang it on your bathroom door (or bedroom wall) where it can stand out in all of it’s sweet little joy-filled glory. Perhaps it’s carefully draped over a chair where you’ll see it first thing in the morning and get a little joy spark. Either way, put your outfit somewhere uncluttered, in a place of honor.
