YOU did it (thank you!)

Dec 1, 2008 | Life in Progress

odette called and left a voice mail on my phone. she wanted to thank me (us) for helping her mom in africa. she has no idea that the honor is mine. that i should be thanking her. her voice had tears spurting out of my eyes with joy – you have no idea. and i so love this photo of jen and odette.

dearest blog readers,

you are people who see with your hearts, feel with your sense of knowing.

you are believers in movement. movement of the small into the wide and open and expansive world of possibility.

you make things happen.

you trust that your $5, $10, $15 will grow exponentially in the spirit of the collective that knows a purpose much bigger than ourselves.

and you are serious rockstars that have bravely given almost $4000 open hearted dollars to one very compassionate and dear family in rwanda that needs our help. it’s an amount of money that far exceeded any expectations….wow.

you also know that it’s not so much the money that matters. but the feeling you had just before and just after you donated.

that feeling that reminds us that we’re all in this together.

that shared joy is the best feeling in the universe.

and that life is a very beautiful thing.

**********************************************

i simply have no words for this community at the moment. i am in awe at our power, at our capabilities, at our purpose. and i think i may be in love with each and every one of you. it’s felt like the best christmas over and over again as i wake up each morning to a whole new slew of donations in my inbox. seriously happiness, i tell you. thank you, thank you…

i can’t wait to show you esteria’s new home and how all of your heart money was used to make life changing things happen in rwanda. as jen would say, it’s going to be so, so good.

xoxox + big love,
odette, odette’s family, jen, and kelly

ps: i’m keeping the donations open for the remainder of the week, so please feel free to spread the word…(thank you).

Sending much love,

It's really true that giving is as much a blessing to the giver as to the one who receives!! Thanks so much, Kelly Rae.

A bonus to us is that Africa is my 6 year old little girl's FAVORITE country!! I don't know why, but she has LOVED Africa and everything about it for 1 & 1/2 years. This is an incredible way for her to see how she can truly help change the world!

Thank you for this update. That is wonderful news. It’ll be great to hear how this works out for Esteria. Sounds like maybe more things are getting done than what you had first thought. Will look forward to hearing about that as well.

Isn’t it just so true~ the goodness and honor of ordinary people will save this world of ours, one small act at a time.

We are all blessed to have put our energy towards the good.

    Thanks, Kelly Rae. 🙂

As an Africa lover, I am so thankful you coordinated this. Not only because you brought this woman’s story to our attention, but because you made it personal. It is so easy to be consumed with the dread that one person cannot change the world.
You have done just that for Odette’s family. Bravo!

It was a privilege to be part of something so meaningful. Thank you for the opportunity to share. I hope this helps to make a home that is safe, dry and full of love. She is an amazing lady who deserves that basic need of shelter for her and her family.
