I’ve been painting up a storm over here. And my I’ve been painting up a storm over here. And my creative spirit is bursting. I’m calling it my summer of painting and so far we are off to a great start! Trying to stay, loose, bold, and carefree.
I’ve been living in my overalls lately. For pain I’ve been living in my overalls lately. For painting. For house projects. For yard projects. The other day, I even wore them rock climbing and a woman shouted, “I love your 90s vibe!”

I mean…YES. Who else was rocking overalls in the 90s? Bonus points if they were oversized or you had had them covered in patches. 🙋🏻‍♀️

There’s something about overalls that just feel like freedom. Like play. Like creativity in motion. I made an art print in their honor because they’re an icon in my #wearyourjoy practice of joyful making and doing and becoming.

Internet friends! Yellow basket or no yellow baske Internet friends! Yellow basket or no yellow basket?

I’ve started bringing our stuff back in the house after massively uncluttering and simplifying. But now that we’re not moving, I’m putting the layers back in for our maximalist vibes.

Having fun along the way💛

I like to wear my joy AND decorate my joy, too. You too?
📦 We packed the boxes. We put the sign in the y 📦 We packed the boxes. We put the sign in the yard. We told everyone we were moving, including the internet!

⏳ And then… we changed our minds.

🗓 Our move was months in the making. We decluttered our maximalist home (no small feat), told our aging parents who live just two blocks away. Filled the garage with packed boxes.

🌀 But in the quiet weeks that followed, we started hearing a new whisper.

❓Are you sure? Is this still true?

🌬 At first, we brushed it off. But the whisper kept showing up — in tiny hopes that no offer would come, in quiet conversations, in deep exhales after stalking Zillow.

🔄 So we did something that even surprised us. We changed our minds.

✍️ We took the sign down. We stayed.

❤️ One of my friends said, “I love how you remind me it’s okay to change your mind. I see freedom in that.”

✨ And it’s true. It is brave to change course without making the original choice wrong.

🧭 Sometimes the only way to know what we really want is to live inside a brave yes long enough to feel if it fits.

🤲 And when it doesn’t — we get to pivot. Kindly. Gently. Without shame.

🌎I want to live in a world shifting course isn’t a failure. It’s not indecisive or irresponsible. It’s a powerful act of self-trust. It’s honoring what’s true now.

❤️I’m grateful for the reminder that clarity often comes after the decision, not before. And that sometimes, the bravest yes is the one that says: Actually, we’re staying.

💬 Have you ever changed your mind about something that once felt certain? I’d love to hear.

XO, kelly rae
Finding my groove lately. Also, we decided not to Finding my groove lately. Also, we decided not to move to Bend after all (I’ll share more soon)! So I’m cozying back into my studio and playing with oil paints and big paintings and patiently waiting for warmer weather. My heart is full.

Sending love,
Kelly Rae
