how innovate became innervate

how innovate became innervate

(photo by Viv McMaster) “Once we rid ourselves of traditional thinking we can get on with creating the future.” — James Bertrand   My word for 2012 was innovate. As I wrote in this early 2012 post, I was totally in love with the idea of “trying...

Working on a new piece. My creative faucet is ON l Working on a new piece. My creative faucet is ON lately and I'm just lit up in so many parts of my creative life right now. There is an awakening happening over here. I am so grateful for the beauty. And the energy. And for collaborations I'm doing lately with friends, including a little not so secret project called Wild Beauty (@wildbeauty_sisters).

All the love to you for supporting me. I am so grateful for this community.

Big love, Kelly Rae
🔥I'm SO lit up right now about the idea of Brav 🔥I'm SO lit up right now about the idea of Brave Friendship.

❤️Where am I holding back in my friendships? What am I not saying? What if I didn't hold back, said the thing, and showed up more fully? Brave friendship!

🌸What if I revealed myself more in my friendships? More vulnerable, more authentic, more honest? Brave friendship.

😘What if I made a move toward repairing a friendship? Or what if I let go of connections that no longer serve me and make room for stronger, deeper friendships? Brave friendship!

👯‍♀️OR OR OR what if I put myself out there to create NEW connections that will spark joy / ease / playfulness. Brave friendship!

Friendship is a JUICY topic, yes?

@andreascher and I have been thinking of doing a course together on friendship for YEARS, and it's finally here. AND it's going to be so juicy, so thoughtful, so GOOD!

⭐️Brave In Friendship will invite you to dive deep into your friend world, and consider how you can show up more fully in your connections.

🌈 It’s time for more AUTHENTIC, inspiring, vibrant,
BRAVE friendships.

Link in profile will take you to registration page!

WHO'S IN?

Excited,
Kelly Rae
🌈I'm working hard to use IG for only my persona 🌈I'm working hard to use IG for only my personal creative process but this is TOO good not to share here, especially bc it's about creating community, which I consider YOU to be.

👯‍♀️@andreascher and I have been friends for nearly 20 years. One thing we have in common is our devotion to our friendships and they ways they have walked us home our whole lives. From girlhood through the 20s, through marriage, new motherhood, careers, death, and much more.

😘We both hold onto our people, and sometimes let them go, too.

🙏🏼For whatever reasons, Ive always had a knack for creating friendships that nurture, inspire, and make me want to be a better human. I made a career around painting these women as a tribute to the ways my sisters have always been my guides, both on the canvas and off.

❤️All of that is to say that friendship is tricky! How do we repair? How do we make new ones in midlife and later years? How do we tend and reignite friendships we miss? How do we deepen the friendships we currently have?

❗️Introducing The Friendship Course! We've been dreaming of this offering for YEARS and the time is here!

✨This course will invite you to re-engage those you miss, discover those who’ve been waiting for you, and intentionally fill your life only with women who will inspire, delight, and see you.

❓What can happen in 6 weeks of prompts, juicy discussions, thought-provoking missions, and more?

🎆Come find out! Link in bio!
Had the energy and inspiration to fluff up our liv Had the energy and inspiration to fluff up our living room this weekend. I love it so. Swapped out rugs (via rugsusa) and chairs and buffets (via FB marketplace). And put all of my vintage floral painting in one place vs scattered around the house. LOVE.

It's tricky blending vintage florals with Moroccan patterns but I love the combo.

I haven't fluffed up our spaces in a very long time, and it's evidence I'm turning a corner energy wise:)

Also, god bless my mom who has more energy at 75 than anyone I know. She helped me fluff the entire house over three days. More photos of the other rooms soon.

Big love to all the decor nerds out there!

Do you routinely fluff your house? Does it drive your partner crazy?

This morning I played pickle ball for the first ti This morning I played pickle ball for the first time and now all I wanna do is play games outside like we did when we were kids. Like weekly kickball, dodgeball, pickleball. An adult play league. Who's in?

Guys, I'm just following my delight. Wherever my heart wants to go, we go. No more doing anything it really just doesn't want to do. Period.

The gift of midlife, I'm learning, is to trust the "I don't wanna's" and replace with what you really wanna do. In my case, I don't wanna do gym workouts. I just wanna play outside with my friends.

Following my heart over here. If it wants to sleep, we sleep. Play, we play. Make pottery, we do it. Paint, we do that too. Watch tv, yes.

My current brand of adulting needs more play. Summer, I've decided will be a summer of play. Who's in?
A few things lighting my fire lately: 🌞 Warm a A few things lighting my fire lately:

🌞 Warm and sunny days have finally arrived here in #sistersoregon. Doors and windows are open. It feels like a warm blanket / hug. I have needed it.

🌼The many many daffodils I planted last fall have all popped up. A blanket of the most welcomed yellow.

🎻True's relentless and passionate pursuit to learn cello. There is nothing better than watching your kid light up and just go for it.

📚@maggiesmithpoet's memoir. Reading it on a lazy weekend. Yes.

🎨All the wonky art I'm making lately. Makes my heart happy to lose hours and hours to creating.

🌟The feeling / knowing that I'm doing some good personal / soul work at the moment. That I'm making myself new, transforming into someone freer than before.

🏺The weekly pottery class I'm taking.

🏓The pickle ball I'm gonna do tomorrow.

👩🏻‍🎨Updating and making tons of new art tutorial videos for the 10th Anniversary Ed of my mixed media mantra painting class. Shout out to all of you who took the original class all those years ago!

🍧Frozen coke icee's. So good on a warm day.

❤️Dusting off my bike and riding it up to the coffee shop, bookstore, post office, etc, and the small town awesomeness of folks knowing your name at all the stops.

🕊️The endless sound of birds during the day and frogs at night.

🌈Playing the Wordle & Spelling Bee each morning after doing my wild writing practice.

🙏🏼Despite everything, feeling hopeful. The best.

Big love, Kelly Rae

Before I picked up my first paintbrush at the age of 30, I was a medical social worker. I followed my whispers and started playing with paint, and everything changed.

I’m now a full-time artist, author, and Possibilitarian who helps women explore their creativity and nourish their souls.
