grown-up things

Mar 26, 2006 | Life in Progress

Laini and I met today for lunch, and she is as lovely in person as she is on her blog, so i feel fortunate to have made a new friend. She has loads of helpful advice for a new artist such as me! and not only that, but she gave me a few of her beautiful cards adorned with her lovely ladies!

i spent the remainder of the day with john, and as luck would not have it, we don’t have another day off together until mid-april. go figure. so, we went for our usual walk to the coffee/teahouse this morning (with the dog and in the rain…). and i did something today that i haven’t done in over 10 years. i bought a watch. it was time as i’ve really, really needed one. it feels slightly odd on my wrist, but it’s kind of nice. it’s one of those watches that grown-ups wear. it has a pretty soft blue face and a stainless steel linked band. i suppose i’m over my rebellious phase of paying no attention to time and have entered reality. now i have no excuse for being late. and i suppose i’m all grown up now. nah, not really.

Sending much love,

Kelly, it was so good to meet you in person, too!! It’s been so fun getting to know new friends on these blogs, but to actually have lunch together was much nicer. I look forward to doing it again soon! Alexandra was just asking about having a little painting/creative day to teach her some techniques and I thought of you, too. We’ll have to plan it for when you’ve had a chance to settle in after Artfest. Hope you have a great time there!
