Super enjoyed this book. I’m getting a ton of reading and writing in on this family vacation.

You guys. This kid. Last night at the Luau he got really scared during the fire dancer’s performance. After about 30 seconds, he got up from his seat, and ran away so that the stage was out of view. When I caught up with him, he hugged me tight, tears rolling down his cheeks, and said very angrily “THAT is not okay with me! He’s gonna catch on fire!” As a mama, I was SO struck by the drama as True is usually super chill. It scared me, but thankfully my calm mama mode hit high gear in response to his fear. Anyway, after many many hugs and assuring him that the fire dancer was safe, that he was safe, that all of us were safe, he calmed down. Poor thing. He was so worried and so deeply scared. Sometimes I forget how sensitive this sweet soul is. We are very careful to monitor shows, conversations, and anything that is potentially scary for a sensitive six year old and his imagination, but I didn’t consider giving him a heads up about the fire dancer. Oh no! I’ll add this to the long list of things I’ll need to forgive myself for. Hello parenting!
I remember being a bit of a worrier as a child as well, but not nearly as confident or in my skin as True. After the Luau was over, we processed a bit more and he slept like a baby.

Parenthood. These moments. The ups and downs and out of left fields. It’s a big scary world out there for these youngsters. I’m so glad I get to experience it (scary and not so scary) with this boy. And I’m forever thankful for moments like these when he clearly stands in his truth, expresses himself, and allows us to comfort him.

You guys. Portland is having a snowpocalypse. Snow is rare. The city has shut down. And we’re missing the entire event. This is the view from our back door. Crazy!

Friends! After holding the vision for a couple of years, I’m happy to announce the first gift/decor product launch of “True by Kelly Rae Roberts.” This collection is geared toward kids and includes the growth chart you see here as well as sweet hanging soft decor. Retailers, if you’re at the Atlanta Mart this week, check out the DEMDACO showroom in Bldg 2, Ste 685 to see both the True kids collection and my other KRR gift collection. Lots of new and exciting products launching this week.

Sending much love,
