we celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary today. we are 35 + 36 years old and today was our last anniversary as just the two of us – we wanted to make it special. and so we did.
we took the whole day off.
no work. no unpacking.
we slept in. snuggled.
we went out for breakfast where i discovered that you really can rest plates and drinks on a basketball belly the size of texas (photo below)
we talked to our parents.
we went to our fave kids store
grasshopper (which is owned by kara – the gal who also owns my all time fave portland boutique,
tumbleweed, and who made my
wedding dress back in 2001!) we found
THE swaddle blankets that everyone tells us are absolute musts along with a few other essentials at a newly discovered baby store,
milagros.
we held hands all day long.
we reminisced. because that’s what we always do on wedding anniversaries – we retell our memories of who made the first move, who asked who to marry them, where we were engaged, which years were our bests, which years were big learning curve years, how we met, and on an on. i will not lie, it’s really sweet.
look ma, no hands!
just like every other couple, we struggle, we celebrate, we travel far and wide in the journey of togetherness. i’m just so happy and lucky all of these years later that he chose me, and that i chose him.
