Art In Motion :: Surrender

Feb 7, 2014 | My Creative Practice

With Art in Motion, I share the visual journey through the life of one of my paintings — from the blank canvas, to the first splash of inspiration, all the way to the finished piece. Enjoy to the fullest!

Lots and lots of layers on this beauty. Lots of unleashing of joy!
In the studio today! Loving this background and eager to see what emerges.
Started with just one wing, collaged…..
Current view. #happyplace
Kept building the layers of the collaged butterfly……

I’m currently obsessed with white, so lots of white added….
Stamped and stenciled my letters in and called her done. She’s available here, signed and matted.
I love this piece. Deeply meaningful, and powerful to me as I’m getting ready to surrender my heart’s latest work into the world, as well as surrender all the ups and downs that come with making a big move. For me, I love how uncertainty and overwhelm can ease their grip when I make a move in the direction of surrender. Makes me think of this quote I’ve always loved by Toni Morrision.
“If you can surrender to the wind, you can ride it”
Toni Morrison
So true, no?
Happy surrendering, friends. I am right there with you, on the daily.
PS: Wanna come unleash our joy with me and make a beautiful mantra painting of your own? Come journey with me, friends. I’d love to have you!

PPS: I get so many questions about which art supplies I use and love. You can check out my favorite supplies for making art  (with descriptions) over here or if it’s easier, I’ve put some easy links below for you 🙂

Thank you guys. I hope you enjoyed a peek into the process!
XO,
Kelly Rae

Sending much love,
