art and soul day 5

day 5
“children use all their senses to discover the world. then artists come along, and discover it the same way all over again.” – welty

i took linda & opie obrien’s class. they are such lively, unique, and down right fun people. this class was tremendously relaxed and i actually left the class with a finished, gorgeous piece of art. i can’t show a photo of it because it’s a christmas gift, but it’s cool. they are cool. it’s the first time i had ever made jewelry, and it was so, so fun. again, out of my element, but good.

i had lunch with alexandra and laini and laini gave me this gorgeous fairie that she made. how seriously amazing is this? i have it hanging in a very special spot in my studio. you can’t really tell in this photo, but the wings are like an iridescent pale blue. so cool. thank you, laini. i’m a lucky girl.

me + alexandra + laini

then we all headed to vendor nite at art & soul. holy cow. seriously, a person can get very, very overwhelmed and inspired with all the amazing artwork – and it’s all for sale! i can’t show everything i bought because they’re gifts, but i’ll show the one item i bought for myself because there was no way i could resist…a lovely, lovely tote by DJ.

it reads “keep one still, secret spot where dreams my go.”

and if the art weren’t enough to send me over the edge, the artists were amazing. i met the lovely judy wise who i gave a gigantic hug to because she too has been incredibly encouraging. and i met the lovely paulette who makes amazing glass beads. and i bought something from this amazing artist and this one. and if i had had more money, i would have bought something from this incredible woman and this one too. oh, and i can’t forget this incredible artist.

oh god, i could go on and on. i was in heaven.

Sending much love,
