gentle memories

(“lost in gentle memories”)

in an afternoon spent in sporadic moments of overwhelm (feeling the reality and the enormity of not having enough time to squeeze in all of life this week) i am wishing i were lost in gentle memories. like the ones of fishing on lake sante fe with my granddad. or hearing my sister sing to me as i fell asleep in 1982. or remembering how much i loved our white guinea pig named ‘henry’ (or was it ‘fred’) that same year. or how my nana would make me grits with cheese and butter every single morning before i left for school. all childhood memories. all gentle. all comforting to a somewhat frazzled self today…even just for a moment…

in some pretty exciting news, i got a call from KPFA. they want to use one of my paintings for all of their posters and promotional materials this year for the san fran art festival. how cool is that? so yes, in the spurts of overwhelm lie these tiny miracles of a life unfolding.

i hope that years and years from now i will remember these very months with gentle fondness. i’m sure i will..

Sending much love,
