good times, good friends

Dec 11, 2005 | Life in Progress

We spent friday nite and most of today with Lisa and Kevin at McMenamin’s Edgefield. It’s an old poor farm from the early 1900s that has been renovated into a whimsical hotel, complete with bed&breakfast style rooms, big soaker tubs, a winery, all sorts of pubs on campus, and all kinds of fun on its 38 acres of farmland. it was a really nice getaway. we ate a ton, talked a lot, drank the goods, laughed silly, ran quickly in the cold and wind, went to bed late, and slept in. this morning we all treated ourselves to massages, then a huge breakfast spread. now that’s what i call a really great morning!

and it didn’t end there. we went to see “Walk the Line” in the middle of the afternoon! I can’t remember the last time i saw a movie, let alone in the middle of the day. and the movie was awesome. i grew up watching The Johnny Cash Show and for some reason, i specifically remember the stage of that show and the big, swooping curtains behind him. it was always a treat to watch. that was right around the time we were watching a ton of Little House on the Prairie and it was the same year MTV came on air. i was 7.

we exchanged gifts friday nite with Lisa and Kevin, and i was lucky to receive a beautiful necklace lisa made. the girl has got some amazing talent and every time i wear one of her pieces i get compliments all day long. i love my newest piece. it’s so sweet and delicate. and i’ll cherish it always. we gave them the above pieces i made of their girls, sophia and simone. and they loved them!

it was really nice to get away. even just for a nite.

Sending much love,
