i wanna be naive

Aug 24, 2005 | Life in Progress

I’ve been thinking about people who are considered to be naive as compared to people who are the opposite of naive -I guess what I would call people who have become hardened and jaded to life. Some people would say that people who are naive are simple and sheltered and maybe a little stupid and unaware. But I say that most naive people know very well about the rough and tumble aspects of the world, but CHOOSE to live with an attitude of trust in the goodness of the world. i wouldn’t call that dumb, i’d call it smart and healthy living. their eyes are wide open. it seems like becoming indifferent would be the easier thing to do, but staying wide eyed and sincere seems like it would take more work – to consciously decide not to become apathetic in a world where cynics rule. it’s like that lauren hill song where she says ‘don’t be a hard rock when you really are a gem, baby girl.’ i think i used to be naive. i’m working my way back there. it’s the right thing to do, for me.

Sending much love,
