Weekly Update – The Sweet Life

May 25, 2017 | Life in Progress

I’m obsessed with Instagram – it’s my favorite online home! Here’s a recap from the last week, and for those of you who aren’t on Instagram, come and join me!

Thursday, May 18

Good morning from NYC!

Found a lot of love and joy in NYC today. I’m currently in bed about to pass out from a full day of activities.

Friday, May 19

Rachel and I had a photoshoot this morning with hair, makeup, a famed French phogtapher, a stylist who put us in Gudrun clothes. Unreal and so very sweet people ushering us through this journey these last couple of days. More photos soon after I stop sweating like a beast. It’s HOT here.

Saturday, May 20

Thank you NYC and Gudrun Sjoden for having me. I’m heading back home to my family now and the timing is divine. Why? Because my dear John broke his shoulder in three places yesterday. I am needed back home. So very grateful he is okay as it could have been much worse.

Monday, May 22

You guys. Remember when I told you that I was putting an art shed in our back yard? Well, look what started today! This shed is the first in line of what will be a huge backyard makeover. Super excited to make this small yard space usable as our backyard is generally a mud pit (Portland, Oregon = rain most of the year) except a few weeks out of the year. Progress shots to come!

Tuesday, May 23

Our yard has finally sprung. So much green. Makes my heart really happy to have watched these plants mature these last couple of years. Love.

Meanwhile our bedroom is being painted Revere Pewter (best gray ever) as I didn’t love the yellow. John is cozy on the couch. Builders are in the back yard building the art shed. Lulu is passed out next to John (hasn’t left his side). True is at school. And I’m here at home working in the dining room. Full, good life.

Wednesday, May 24

I kinda can’t believe this is happening in the midst of so much other happenings. I’m starting to obsess over what colors to paint it. What do you think about dark grey with chartreuse door and flower boxes under the windows with a touch of deep rose accents?

A little soulcare this morning after a couple of days of full throttle. I’m having MASSIVE amount of respect for those of you who are doing the lion’s share in the work/parent/caregiving departments. Wow. I. Am. Humbled. I’m also feeling pretty darned fierce at managing it all this week while still keeping my gym and soulcare commitments. Huge giant boatloads of thanks to my parents for all the extra help. John goes into surgery in the morning. We are all looking forward to it.

And just like that, I’m in love with the gray walls. This is the 2nd room that had yellow walls that we’ve covered with gray. Really happy with it! It’s Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore. Ahhhhhhh.

Ps: Most everything is vintage in this room, otherwise I’d tag where things came from. Rug is from Rugs USA!! Xxo!

She truly has not left John’s side. Not even for chance to sleep in our bed (John has been sleeping upright on the couch as it’s the only semi-comfortable position). She continues to be our family’s spirit dog and we are just so in love and grateful for all the joy she brings. I’m heading to bed. Exhausted over here and it’s a big day tomorrow.

Sending much love,

Kelly your bedroom is just gorgeous!! Love all the vintage.
So sorry your husband broke his shoulder. Glad he was saved from “much worse” though. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
Hey, did you make or buy the bedspread? And is it made from old coverlets?

Kelly…I always so love your decor; sorry you didn’t like the yellow walls; my man and I are just moving into our own house which inside is painted sort of a cream gold color and with the cathedral ceilings & sliding doors in most of the rooms it feels like every room is filled with sunshine…we love it. Course we don’t have your artistic eye and ability so the decor will be subdued compared to yours. Love your backyard little house; guess you’re in love with gray right now…carolyn
