surprised by beauty

Nov 23, 2005 | Life in Progress

today has been one of those perfect autumn days. it’s sunny, cold, and both john and i are in total holiday moods. so, after taking the dogs to the park with our coffee and hot tea in hand, we bought our Christmas tree. we’re going home for the holidays this year, so instead of a full-on Christmas tree, we bought a little tiny tree in a bucket. it’s the cutest thing i’ve ever seen. we brought it home and immediately broke out the tree lights and all of the ornaments. a couple of years ago, i started collecting old, antique glass ornaments. today, i absolutely loved unwrapping each delicate ornament from it’s tissue wrapper and being surprised all over again by their beauty. they are just so charming and unperfect which is why i love them so much. i LOVE christmas time.

Sending much love,
