(First haircut, before and after. He looks so grown up – bittersweet! Almost 3 yrs old.)
You guys, I am having some serious mama pride at the moment. I figured out how to cut True’s hair. I have to share it with you as I’m certain I’m not the only mama of a toddler boy who just isn’t thrilled about going to the barber shop (we’ve tried, a few times, and the little guy won’t budge and we don’t have the heart to push him).
SO, I you tubed “how to cut toddler boy hair” and this video popped up showing how to cut with clippers. Then, I watched this video showing how to cut with scissors. I ran out, bought the Wahl clippers and then went to work using both the clippers for most of the cutting and then the scissors for the top of his head. The entire thing took about 15 minutes. It was tear free (for all involved) and True watched an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba while I went to work. Easy!
There are so many (so many) moments of defeat when it comes to motherhood, that when a big triumph comes along like this one, it feels, well it feels incredibly joyous.

You did such a great job, Kelly Rae! My boy is 24 (almost 25!) and I used to just give him a buzz cut. I couldn't figure out how to use scissors to cut his hair. I was only able to just trim my daughter's hair with scissors (just the back and the her bangs) 🙂 .
