You guys. Last week I went to NYC to meet Gudrun of Gudrun Sjoden clothes and homewares!!! It was love at first sight. How adorable is she? Honestly, she is my biz woman mentor, a woman who not only invented the idea of wearing your joy, but starting her Swedish biz at the age of thirty (me too!), and has been running it with soul for forty years. It’s a global company celebrating women everywhere. It’s a dream come true to partner with her and her company!
For those of you who want to learn more about my partnership with Gudrun, head over to this recent post I wrote.
While I was in NYC, I had the pleasure of attending her fashion show as well as a few other special events. I, along with the the other brand ambassadors (loveliest people!), were also professionally styled, and photographed in Gudrun’s upcoming Fall line. OMG!
Here’s a sprinkling of my adventures…..
Here I am with a couple of the other ambassadors waiting for the fashion show to start. That’s Rachel up front. Isn’t her vibe and hair amazing? We’ve become dear friends since meeting in person last summer. I adore her. Next is Betti who is blowing the kiss. She is a New Yorker and has been a Gudrun Girl for ages. She’s also an amazing artist and fierce spirit. Next is Deborah. You may recognize her from her brave and hope-filled video (and her appearance on Ellen) that went viral.
There were several other brand ambassadors I met, all photographed above, including Valerie, the first woman surgeon in the US to perform Gender Affirmation Surgery for our transgendered brothers and sisters. She has a heart of GOLD. There was also Georgie, Miss Africa and author of this amazing book. She was possibly the most beautiful person I’ve ever met, also with a heart of gold. And there was SARK, too! I finally met SARK after decades of soaking up her wisdom and joy.
This was the runway for the fashion show. YES, please. More stripes, pinks, colors in the world of fashion.
This was the scene on the day of the photoshoot. You can see Patrice, the French photographer shooting Gudrun herself. He made us all feel really comfortable. You can also see Rachel getting her makeup done on the right. Her look was SO COOL!
I can’t share many photos from the shoot because we were wearing clothes that aren’t yet out, but here’s one of me and Rachel all made up in our make up, which I loved.
There were many other Gudrun adventures while I was in NY, including lots of playing dress up in her store (in SOHO), conversations with all the good people that make the business run, and so much more.
I have ALWAYS wanted someone to make kid clothes for grownups. And that’s how a lot of Gudrun’s clothes feel to me: like a JOY to wear. AND I can feel really good about how they are made as Gudrun herself has such a green heart and has been making clothes with a conscious heart for as long as she’s been in business.
Big love,
Kelly Rae
PS: To shop Gudrun’s collection (which I highly recommend, of course!), head over to their webshop.
Oooo! What a super experience! Gudrun speaks to my soul! Love her to pieces! Her clothes seem to emit sunshine!
That is SUCH a good way to describe them!!
AMAZING! So happy for you! Those photos show such genuine joy on everyone’s faces! Congratulations on this special moment and new steps in your journey! I love your green sandals, too- what brand are they- they look so classic and lovely!
This looks like an absolute joyful colorfest! I’m so happy that you were able to enjoy this dream experience, Kelly Rae. Gudron’s clothing is completely inspiring and happy making. Now we just need to see if some of your patterns and paintings can land on some clothing for us to partake of!
How fun to get a behind-the-scenes sneak peek! What joyful photos and a post. You all look so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I’m glad you go to experience this! Thanks, Kelly Rae!
