Weekly Update – Rainy Days and Bulldog Love

Dec 18, 2015 | Life in Progress

I’m obsessed with Instagram – it’s my favorite online home! Here’s a recap from the last week, and for those of you who aren’t on Instagram, come and join me! And you can click here to see all the Instagram updates right here on my blog!

Friday, December 11

I took a short trip to Manzanita yesterday with a couple of girlfriends. This little town holds so much magic for me. It would be a dream to be able to own a little cabin here someday. The weather was gorgeous and so much peace in my soul. Love you, #manzanita!

NOTICE: You are hereby allowed to be happy, to love yourself, to realize your worth, to believe in great things, and to be treated with love and respect. I’ve seen this quote floating around the Internet, and I adore it. Good reminder going into the weekend,
my friends. Have a great one! – See more at: http://iconosquare.com/viewer.php#/detail/1031236835330443657_4682769

Playing a bit of hooky today with these two. I’m having a bit of senioritis lately. I wanna be on winter break already and just nest and read and play games and sit by the fire and sleep and eat and watch movies. Who’s with me?

Follow your true north…. Have a lovely weekend, friends!

Friday night fun with art apps. Totally addicted to the app called “sketches” that allows you to paint with your fingers on your phone. So cool. I then took that painting and imported it into Rhonna Designs app and played with collage. I could do this all day long.

Saturday, December 12

I do not know what to say. I just do not.

More evening fun with art apps. Same as last night’s process: created figure in the Sketches app and then played with it some more in the Rhonna Designs app. So fun, especially when my studio and paints aren’t accessible.

Your beautifully,
messy,
complicated
story matters (tell it)

Tell it, and tell it all. This morning I was in a definite rut. I got out of it with a good heart centered convo with John but part of the rut was realizing that I haven’t seen the sun in days and it looks like I won’t see it this week either. Now begins the time when us north-westerners adjust to our new normal and start embracing the rain. But there is a part of me, illustrated here, that simply wants to whine and groan.

Tuesday, December 15

No sun, but no rain either. It’s a GOOD day!!

Dear Santa, Lulu would like for me to inform you that this adorable English bulldog pillow (from anthro) is most definitely on her list. She would also like for me to tell you that she has most certainly been “good”, providing all sorts of snorts and snuggles to her humans. Therapy, basically. ??❤️

Wednesday, December 16

Have a lovely Wednesday, friends. I was up a lot last night with a scared puppy and 5 year old as the winds and rain and storm were intense. Today it’s calm and I’m grateful. Xxo

It’s a joy full life.

I believe when all else fails love always wins.

I believe in practicing courage every single day.

I believe kindness changes everything.

I believe in telling our messy, complicated, beautiful stories.

I believe nothing is wasted and everything shapes us.

I believe in letting go and trusting the process.

I believe we are all part of something beautiful, something bigger, something deeply, profoundly, astonishingly…good.

You guys. I’m geeking out in comfort today for The Wear Your Joy Project. I’ve got my KRR mug (psst: available over at online vendor Garden Gallery’s website for those of you interested), my fave Peruvian made hand warmers (not sure where they’re from as they’re super old), my fave hat (also super old from H+M) and my new favorite coziest ever tunic sweater (with a hood!!) from
Neesh by D.A.R. Speaking of Neesh, don’t forget that I’ve got a discount for you guys. Use code KELLYRAEROBERTS for 20% off now through December 20 over at neeshbydar.com! I am in love with
their layered looks and their philosophy of breaking rules for the love of authentic style. I’ve got a few other folks I wanna share with you, too, cause I love sharing what I love. It feels like sitting around a cafe and gabbing about what jeans
you discovered and so on. Love this kind of girly chit chat. So anyway, I’m rambling!! Xxo!

Hope and healing….

Seriously, mom?

Many of you know Nichole as my Community Care & Engagement Manager. She helps answer your emails, roots for you, helps manage licensing stuff, and so much more. She’s been a HUGE boon not just for my business, but also personally. I thought it would be fun to share a few things about the woman who does so much for all things KRR. Here I go: She’s a Millennial and because of her I LOVE Mellennials! She is obsessed with live music especially Neko Case. She is obsessed with podcasts and is the host of her own called Happy, Joyous, & Freaking Out. She has the most beautiful singing voice EVER and has recorded many a song. She’s an auditory learner, something she is always telling me. She laughs a ton at me which makes me think I’m actually funny. She has a very cool boho vibe, loves puppies and yoga. But most importantly she has dedicated her life to authentic living, truth telling, deep and brave conversations. Also did I mention that she is a major Star Wars buff, has mad British accent skills, and oh, she is single. If you know any worthy dudes, tag them (she is going to KILL me for this, but I’m the boss lady). All of this is to say a huge thanks to Nichole
and congratulations on your one year anniversary with KRR!

So. This photo was taken, I am not joking, at approximately 4:30pm. It is dark, it is raining, it is cold. And it’s been nonstop for about 20 days and it looks like it will continue. John and I have made a pact to face this unending unusually WET weather with a sense of adventure. And we will do it with the kind of discipline that is needed for things like spiritual practices. And so you will continue to see me and Lulu at the dog park when it’s pouring rain. We will force ourselves, as we did today, to go on date nights and walk around the rainy city when all we wanna do is stay home and nap. We will hike in the forest with True and get crazy muddy. We will wear our rain pants to the playground. We will keep our happy lamp on all day if we must. And the fire place, too. And we will continue the adventure in the city we love even when we want to scream. This is the kind of weather for making memories and I’m totally down for it.

That’s it for this week! Check back here next week for another update, or join us over on Instagram for daily photos and thoughts!

XO,

Kelly Rae

Sending much love,
