we are in the major homestretch of our house renovation. i am spending hours upon hours managing this project, keeping everything on task, and running around to homies (home depot) and countless other places (tile, lighting, flooring, painting, and on and on). there are SO MANY details. i feel like i’m back in the 7th grade navigating my first major science project only on a much larger scale. i am learning so much about water mains, and electrical, and sheetrock, and molding and OMG!
anyway, i was at the house the other day when i found myself chatting with one of the insulation dudes. big guy. drove a truck. hard worker. turns out he’s having a boy and his wife is due just a week after me. as soon as we started talking about babies, this hard worker manly dude softened into this philosophical sweet dude who told me something i’ll never forget. he said “i’ve always wanted to raise a good man. you know? we need more good men in the world.” there was something about that statement coming from a man that hit home for me.
i thought about it the whole day. john and i are going to do our very best to raise a good man. what an honor that is.
