I painted this piece as a gentle reminder to myself for humaning:
Have faith. Deepen my trust muscles will always and forever be my practice. Yes and amen.
Breathe & soften. How can I soften in this moment? Toward myself. And toward others. This question is one I ask myself all day long.
It’s helped transform my inner drill sergeant to a softy. Do you have a softening practice?
Ask for what you need. Is there anything more liberating?
Rest and Restore. As someone who is a natural doer, this is a practice that I really have to work at AND it changes everything. I like to think of it as my own personal and radical protest. I take my time. I linger. I do a lot of puttering and lounging. I let all the ideas drop into that spaciousness without activating immediately. I wander. Daydream. I see it as my work as an artist to do so.
Here’s to finding and nourishing all the ways that make being a human more loving on ourselves and others.
BIG XO,
Kelly Rae
PS: My NEW print “Breathe + Soften” is available in a variety of sizes over here. xxo
Hi, I'm Kelly Rae Roberts!
Before I picked up my first paintbrush at the age of 30, I was a medical social worker. I followed my whispers and started playing with paint and everything changed.
Now I’m a full-time artist, author and Possibilitarian, who helps women explore and nourish their creative souls.

I love your work!
This is such a good practice to help with anxiety too. My daughters and I play a game when we find ourselves suddenly stressed out and overwhelmed by hitting the easy button. Actually pretending to press a button and then breathing and allowing ease to flow through the situation. Stress melts away and no surprise, suddenly things come with ease!
